Clinical Psychologist

PJ Care is an award-winning provider of Specialist Neurological services, with residential sites in Milton Keynes and Peterborough.  We provide a full range of services to adults living with neurological conditions including the range of dementias, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Korsakoffs syndrome, acquired and traumatic brain injury in addition to providing rehabilitation services for adults after brain injury, spinal injury and stroke.  Our large multidisciplinary team is comprised of a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Assistant Psychologists, assisted by Therapy Technicians and Activities Coordinators to enable our residents to maximise their social, emotional, functional and cognitive experience each day.

We are a Platinum ‘Investors In People’ awarded service and also a ‘Sunday Times Top 100 Company’ to work for in the UK.  Our core values are Compassion, Commitment and Care.  Our staff embody these values in their daily work to maintain and support dignity and respect, choice and diversity and individuality.  We are an equal opportunities employer who seeks a highly motivated and high calibre Clinical Psychologist to join our dedicated team.  If this sounds like you, then we would like to hear from you.

This post will provide an exciting opportunity to gain a range of experience across three sites, two in Milton Keynes and one in Peterborough.  We specialise in supporting adults with early onset dementia and other neurological conditions and can support people through carefully designed care pathways so that their needs are met within the most appropriate environment.  In addition to specialist neurological care, we also provide high quality neurorehabilitation within our Peterborough site, for adults with acquired neurological problems including TBI, stroke, hypoxia and spinal injuries.

The role will include leading the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings, proving neuropsychological assessment, formulation and interventions provided directly to individuals as well as close joint working with the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.  Report writing and attendance at regular care reviews will also form part of the role.  There is an emphasis on working with wider the staff team, providing ongoing training and development of neurobehavioural approaches and care plan development.  Supervision of several Assistant Psychologists will also be required.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist who will provide direct clinical supervision. Experience of working with adults living with dementia or other neurological conditions is required.  The role requires having knowledge of safeguarding procedures and of carrying out assessments under the Mental Capacity Act and being involved in Best Interest meetings and decision making.  Travel between Milton Keynes and Peterborough sites will be required, for which a mileage allowance is payable.

We work closely with various national support organisations and the opportunity to be involved in presenting at seminars and conferences will be available.  Research is also an important aspect to the service and we are currently partnering with exciting research o ganisations and involvement with this will therefore be possible.
