Training

We are a caring employer and at PJ Care we take pride in investing heavily into developing our staff through our professional in-house training and providing you with accredited qualifications while also helping you develop your skills through continuing professional development opportunities.

We continually strive to have the highest standards of person-centred nursing care. We train all of our team members to understand and advocate these standards as they develop their own careers and skills.

  • Free ongoing training
  • PJ Care currently provides all internal and external training free to all contracted employees. The following covers what we can provide:
  • Specialist induction training
  • 12 week Care Certificate training to all Healthcare Workers and Assistants
  • Specialist short courses
  • Diplomas – OCF Level 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care (Adults) is one example of further study we fund for our staff.
  • External funded training – accredited and non-accredited
  • Funding attendance at external conferences
  • Access to Foundation Degrees and Nursing Degrees
Preceptorship

We can provide newly qualified nurses with a full preceptorship for their first year. You will also have access to funded training and specialist workshops to help you translate your skills to practice.

Full Individual support for learning

All learning, access to regular training workshops, and one-on-one assistance from learning and development staff is free to employed staff. We’ll support you through your assignments and exams and give you mentorship to help you translate your learning into solid care practices.

Practice Development Teams

We have our own Practice Development Team present in each site who will coach and mentor staff and assist our teams to provide the best evidence based care to our residents.

Support networks of experienced trainers and colleagues

While at PJ Care, you’ll grow and develop alongside an experienced team of expert staff. Our internal training is delivered by a specialist team of learning and development trainers who all have wide experience of healthcare or are qualified nurses. We can draw on other company trainers who have experience across mental health, psychology, medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dementia nursing and brain injury nursing.

COVID-19 AND PJ CARE

We are all aware that these are very difficult times and that nearly everyone has been affected in some way by the COVID-19 virus.

Here at PJ Care we are taking every precaution and doing all we can to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff and their families and loved ones. We have put many new systems in place to ensure the wellbeing of all, including heightened infection control procedures, restrictions on visitors to our buildings and reducing staff movement between Units.

As a result of the inconsistencies in conducting tests and the inability to carry out antibody tests, we have taken the decision to cease all new admissions until the situation is clearer. We have taken this decision to protect our existing residents, all of whom are vulnerable and at high risk should the virus get into one of our buildings.

As with all aspects of the situation this will be reviewed daily by our board and senior management team, who are meeting daily via video conference to review the latest situation and make changes to our processes as required.

We provide our staff team, residents and relatives with daily updates and ensure that everyone is able to keep in touch as much as possible in the circumstances. If you have any concerns or enquiries relating to the current situation, please get in touch on enquiries@pjcare.co.uk.

Staff access into our buildings is strictly controlled, and all other non-essential access is not permitted. Staff and residents are given regular health checks throughout the day to ensure they remain healthy and safe. Safe systems are in place to recruit and train temporary cover for staff who have to self-isolate. Our staffing numbers remain at our usual high levels.

While there are reports of shortages of some equipment and distribution by suppliers is rationed, we are confident that we have sufficient supply to meet the needs of our residents. We continue to do all we can to protect those in our care and the incredible people who look after them every day.
