Praise for staff at Peterborough care centre

Under CQC’s new programme of inspections, all adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

Eagle Wood has been rated ‘Good’ in all of the above categories by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after a gruelling inspection by a team of seven inspectors from the independent regulator of health and social services in England.

In its report, the inspectors said ‘we saw that people were treated in a kind and caring way.” They praised staff for “respecting people’s privacy and dignity and that care plans have a person centred approach”.

External clinical contractors were also keen to compliment staff and in interviews with the inspectors stated ‘I have gained a lot of experience and insight here. They are the best staff I’ve met’.

The centre was also praised by residents and their families, one resident’s relative told inspectors “It’s a lovely home and my [family member] is safe here” another comment was “It’s lovely here, staff are lovely, they help me all the time”.

Johann van Zyl, PJ Care’s Chief Executive Officer said: “We are all extremely proud of the consistent attention to care and compassion that is delivered by our staff and the fact that the CQC recognised that Eagle Wood is a well led care centre, is consistent with all the other CQC inspection reports we have recently received for care homes in our group.

“In the last 12 months many of our employees have won national and regional care awards and, as a team, we have achieved Investors in People Gold Status, Peterborough Employer of the Year and now this excellent CQC report.”

“I’d like to thank all our staff for their dedication and hard work delivered on a daily basis and for the Peterborough community recognising Eagle Wood as a contributor of excellent care for their loved ones.”
