The sky is the limit for Lauren Cadby
An intrepid and determined young lady, Lauren Cadby, is raising awareness and funds for the debilitating condition, Huntington’s Disease, by tandem free-falling through the skies of greater Peterborough with UK Parachuting based at Sibson Airfield in Peterborough.
Lauren (26), a fervent Chelsea football fan, has been living with the devastating hereditary condition for several years and has always dreamed of doing something adventurous before she loses her co-ordination and mobility. The parachute jump was just one of the challenges on her bucket list and will see her skydive from two miles high and free fall for 50 seconds at speeds in excess of 120 mph!
Huntington’s disease, like Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons, damages brain cells until movement and brain function become seriously impaired. It often affects individuals in early adult hood and sadly for Lauren, immediate members of her family are also affected by the condition which ultimately leaves individuals unable to look after themselves.
Currently being cared for at PJ Care’s Specialist Neurological Centre, at Eaglewood in Bretton, Lauren is one of their most spirited and positive residents according to Amanda McElroy, Activities and Engagement coordinator, who regularly cares and assists Lauren.
Amanda said: “Lauren is so excited that her dream will come true. She feels proud that she has raised sufficient funds from friends and family to undertake the jump and invites the Peterborough public to support her and learn more about the work undertaken by the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA) by visiting their website: www.hda.org.uk.”
